FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Canadian Tour Brings Qualifying School to ChampionsGate Golf Club
for 2002 and 2003
ChampionsGate, Florida (November 28, 2025) -- ChampionsGate, Central Florida's Premiere Golf
Destination, is proud to announce that it will host the winter Qualifying School for the Canadian Tour,
February 11-15, 2002 and in again in 2003.
"We are very proud to host such a prestigious event," said Jeff Parsons, General Manager at
ChampionsGate. "We feel that this event will attract a lot of people to watch these fine players
attempt to qualify for playing privileges on the Canadian Tour."
The Q school provides the opportunity for players to qualify for either a full or conditional card.
A player rewarded with a full card is granted the privilege to play at each tournament on the tour.
A conditional card permits playing time, dependent on individual ranking and space availability at that
particular tournament. Conditional card player rankings are established at Qualifying School.
Prior to choosing a location for the winter Q-School, the Canadian Tour sent out proposals to members
of the National Golf Course Owners Association.
"Both our technical people and I feel that holding this event at ChampionsGate was an ideal fit.
Both the International and the National layouts will be great tests for all participants," said
Canadian Tour Commissioner Jacques Burelle. "On the International course, players will have to
navigate the Scottish-style links using every club in their bag. While on the National course, the players
will have to play smartly and putt their best to produce low scores. We
wanted our Qualifying School to identify those players who are truly ready to advance to the next level."
ChampionsGate is also the world headquarters of the David Leadbetter Academy. Leadbetter is ranked #1
among "Golf Digest's 50 Greatest Teachers" in America. This was another attraction for the
site selection by the Canadian Tour.
"What could be better than having the David Leadbetter Academy on site at our Qualifying School,"
said Burelle. "Here is a large group of young players, perhaps as many as 200 participants, trying
to prove themselves right at the home of one of the best teachers in the world."
"With the Florida location I'm sure that the event will attract a lot of interest in the area,"
said Burelle. "We know that there are a lot of our Canadian fans who vacation in the Orlando area
at that time of year and I'm sure that they'll want to come out and see who the stars of tomorrow will
be."
Parsons agrees that this prestigious event will draw fans to the ChampionsGate facility.
"We welcome the opportunity to open our doors to the golf public and show them two fantastic championship
golf courses that they will want to come back and try for themselves," said Parsons.
The Canadian Tour stages 18 events each year, with six in the United States, one in Panama and 11 in
Canada.
